Again this year, we will be offering hands-on pre and post-conference training classes. Class size is limited to 25 people and offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Hurry and register now, to ensure the class you wish to take is still available. Registration closes on April 29 and will not be available onsite. Pre-Conference training classes will take place Sunday, May 12 from 9 am - 4 pm before conference sessions begin. Post-conference training classes will take place Thursday, May 16 from 9 am - 4 pm after conference sessions end.
The ExpertExpress for myAvatar course is a two-part class that takes place on Sunday, May 12 9am - 4pm AND Thursday, May 16 9am - 4pm. Both days of classes are required to complete this course.

myAvatar: System Maintenance Basics and Beyond
Description: In this course, participants will learn how to maintain their Avatar systems, including database management, registry management, user maintenance, and system security. Participants will also learn how to access help options and perform basic troubleshooting.
Objectives: In this course, participants will:
- Get introduced to and understand the system’s dictionaries and tables.
- Learn how to update and add dictionary values to the system.
- Learn where many collateral database functions are and what they do.
- Gain a high-level understanding about some of the system administrative tools available to manage a myAvatar system, its security, and its users.

Description: This course will show participants how to use the myAvatar Billing Learning Network to identify areas for improvement in your agency’s revenue cycle, based on key performance indicators (KPI).

Description: In this course, participants will learn how ScriptLink and web services can be leveraged to increase system usability, efficiency, data accuracy, and compliance. For instance, by automating data validation tasks such as scoring and scoring results, clinicians can rely on the system to score assessments quickly and provide feedback on recommended next steps based on the score.
Objectives: By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
- Reduce double data entry tasks through the use of web services to import data into myAvatar from a 3rd party application.
- Retrieve data from myAvatar for use in other programs.

The course will also include some troubleshooting basics and Netsmart’s recommended practice for contacting support, entering tickets, and monitoring support cases.

TIER: New Billing Features
Description: In this course, participants will be presented with an overview of all new billing features included in the TIER WFS 9.0 database. We will then take a deep dive into four of these items to provide front end setup instructions as well as train users on how these new features work. Finally, we will discuss how organizations can get these new features, if they don't have upgrade plans already, as well as share some tips on seeking support if there are any additional questions about these items.
Objectives: By the end of the course, participants will be familiar with new billing features in the WFS 9.0 database including:
- Incident To - setup and use of Incident To for Medicare claims when the Rendering Provider is not licensed for Medicare.
- Claims Billing – Setup options for different claim types (Client Claims, Charge Claims, and the types of Combined Claims) and new functionality for sending Corrected Claims
- Reclass functionality – Proper Use of Reclass (Returning a charge to a Previous payor after a waterfall) and impact on the charge balance
- Insurance Takebacks – New process for Insurance takeback that allows a Voided Charge with an insurance payment to keep the payment linked to the charge until the Payor sends the takeback. This allows the Voided charge to appear to have a credit balance until reversal is received and does not affect the unallocated amount on the insurance payment.

Description: This course will emphasize conditionally grouping, sorting, and filtering data to reduce the number of ad hoc requests while increasing data accessibility. In addition, tools such as SQL commands and the Report Definition SQL query builder will be used to increase report performance.
This course is intended for individuals interested in exploring the options for organizing complex data into informative reports to keep pace with changing healthcare IT needs. If it seems too advanced, consider taking the Basic Crystal Report Writing course being offered on Sunday, prior to the conference.
Objectives: By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
- Create reports using multiple ODBC connections.
- Create sub-reports and shared variables.
- Cover advanced SQL commands and sub-queries, such as:
- Selecting specific data from a ‘virtual’ table via left outer join.
- Using SQL functions not available in a view such as UNION ALL.

Description: Implementation of the Patient Driven Groupings Model (PDGM) is a game changer for Medicare home health agencies, completely changing the Medicare home health payment. ExpertExpress for myAvatar Prep Course
The ExpertExpress for myAvatar course is a two-part class that takes place on Sunday, May 12 9am - 4pm AND Thursday, May 16 9am - 4pm. Both days of classes are required to complete this course.
Description: This two-day course is geared towards individuals responsible for triaging support issues within their organizations and escalating them through Netsmart’s SmartCase creation process. The course focuses on troubleshooting the cause of unexpected behavior by reviewing Guardiant flight recorder, myAvatar system defaults, dictionaries, registry settings, user permissions, and system requirements. This course is designed to prepare participants to take the ExpertExpress exam, which is one of the requirements for bypassing Level I support.
In order to bypass Level I support, you must pass the ExpertExpress exam with a score of 80% or better.
