Client Spotlight: Families First in Essex County
The RCM Services Impact
Families First of Essex County came to the Netsmart RCM team with an open mind and was willing to learn new strategies for improving their claims management process. As an organization that uses myEvolv NX (a Netsmart electronic health record for organizations serving children and families and individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, autism, and behavioral health needs), Families First was in the spirit of making positive advancements. A big priority was making sure that they were getting as much as possible out of the robust EHR that they invested in. Through a coaching engagement, the RCM services team helped Families First of Essex County utilize widgets within myEvolv NX to better manage workable accounts receivable (AR) and ensure that remits are balanced and worked appropriately.
Other specific revenue cycle management accomplishments from the collaboration between the Netsmart RCM services team and Families First Essex County include:
- Established an unbilled services workflow
- Facilitated efficiencies in the eligibility process through supportive system set up that resulted in use of 270/271 batch processing
- Provided tools to support better management of outstanding AR and timely denials work
- Offered workflow tips and tricks to identify remits with unapplied balances, specifically when there are unapplied balances and non-myEvolv amounts
“Our participation in RCM coaching has afforded us the opportunity to review all aspects of the revenue cycle management processes to increase efficiency and accuracy. The weekly coaching calls afforded us the benefit of guided practice with the knowledgeable, helpful RCM coaching staff to ensure that our agency-specific workflows aligned with the identified best practices. Our participation will have a long-term positive impact.”
