Meet the Clinicians: Morgan Twidwell

By Morgan Twidwell, Community Marketing Specialist

We are privileged to work with many associates who have firsthand clinical experience. These talented individuals work together with our technology teams and clients to ensure we’re delivering solutions that work in the real world – not just the testing lab.

In this series, we spotlight individuals who now apply their skills and wealth of knowledge to meet and exceed the needs of our clients.

Questions:

  1. Tell us about yourself.
  • I was born in Cape Girardeau, MO, but I moved around a few times as a child, always staying in the Midwest. I moved to Olathe, KS in 2006 and have been there ever since! I am a graduate of the University of Kansas (Rockchalk!) where I obtained my bachelor’s and master’s degree in Social Welfare. I completed three practicums during that time, all working with children and adolescents in the school and psychiatric hospital setting. I am a bikini fitness competitor and have competed in three shows. I decided to take a break from fitness competitions for now so that I can enjoy socializing with friends and family while being able to eat all the foods. I am a dog mom to my corgi, Meeko, and an aunt to my one and only nephew whom I adore.

  1. Give us some highlights of your career in healthcare.
  • I worked as a therapist for an adolescent day program at a psychiatric hospital for two years. During that time, I made some great connections with teenagers who initially wanted nothing to do with me in the first few minutes of meeting me. The ability to watch a kid shift from feeling hopeless to coming in with a smile on their face really made the job worthwhile. I thrive off building relationships with others, so knowing that a child feels comfortable with me to talk about difficult personal situations in their life has always been a highlight for me throughout my career.

  1. Why did you make the change from clinical work to working at Netsmart?
  • Being a social worker has its ups and downs. After a while, the job started weighing on me and I found myself being emotionally exhausted at the end of every day. While I enjoyed working with my coworkers and valued the work that I did, I felt that it was time for a change. I wanted to be somewhere I felt that my background in social work was valuable. After talking with different individuals at Netsmart, I heard several times that having associates with clinical backgrounds was important to them, and that was a major reason for why I wanted to be at Netsmart.

  1. What makes you passionate about serving the clients/organizations who use Netsmart’s services?
  • I truly enjoy being able to still be a part of the behavioral health setting. Knowing that I can positively impact the workflow of clinicians specifically drives me to work harder. I have used an EHR myself before that was not user friendly and was time consuming. Being able to learn about the ways that our solutions can help decrease time spent in front of a computer screen and help clinicians provide the proper treatment and give the appropriate time to their clients is what makes me passionate here at Netsmart.

  1. What does your perfect weekend look like?
  • If the weather is nice, my perfect weekend is spent outside in the sun. Anything from being at the pool to doing a workout outside. It would be even better if it was spent with friends and/or family. I really treasure the time I get with my loved ones and place it as my top priority. On days where the weather is not so great, I enjoy spending time relaxing on the couch watching Netflix and playing board games with friends/family.
