#NatCon18 attendees honor Netsmart as a leader in healthcare during
the Awards of Excellence Celebration
WASHINGTON, D.C., April 25, 2018 – Netsmart has been named the recipient of the National Council for Behavioral Health’s 2018 Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) Business Leadership Award. The award was presented last night in Washington, D.C., during the Awards of Excellence celebration in conjunction with the National Council Conference - NatCon18.
The Mental Health First Aid Business Leadership award recognizes a business that has demonstrated a commitment to the delivery of Mental Health First Aid USA trainings within their organization and beyond.
The National Council for Behavioral Health’s Awards of Excellence recognize and honor organizations in behavioral healthcare for their ingenuity, hard work and dedication to improving the lives of Americans living with mental illnesses and addictions.
Netsmart offers MHFA training sessions throughout the year, including at its annual user conference CONNECTIONS, to its 1,500 associates and the surrounding community, with the goal to drive awareness of and break the stigma of mental illness. In addition to the more than 700 associates trained, Netsmart has two associates who have been certified as MHFA instructors to educate and certify Netsmart clients, associates and local businesses and organizations.
Additional Netsmart initiatives also drive awareness and reduce stigma associated with mental health conditions. The Be a Buddy, Not a Bully campaign helps teach associates’ children about being good friends and citizens as well as what to do if they see someone in need of help or need it themselves. Associates are also encouraged to participate in 16 hours of EveryDayMatters volunteer days each year, donating time and talents to help others, including organizations that are focused on providing mental health support.
“We have learned first-hand from our clients the importance of broad awareness and education in behavioral health,” said Netsmart COO Tom Herzog, who accepted the award on behalf of the company. “One of the greatest opportunities we have is to give back to the communities we serve. We can do that if we are equipped with the right tools to give help when it is needed. We want to be the example that inspires other companies to do the same and, collectively, our efforts will drive more social good than we can do on our own.”
Hailed as healthcare’s largest behavioral health conference, NatCon18 will convene more than 5,000 behavioral health professionals who will discuss processes, solutions and outcomes that transform the behavioral health landscape.
