Julie Hiett, Senior Director of Population Health, Netsmart

In this episode, Kari Norris, Emergency Services Coordinator for Rappahannock Area Community Services Board (RACSB), and Brandie Williams, Deputy Executive Director of Operations for RACSB, share their experience with creating crisis intervention teams for their area in Virginia.

The 988 Implementation Act is drawing increased attention and funding support to the development of community-based crisis response systems. Because RACSB has been providing crisis management services since 2009, we spoke with them about their experiences and what other organizations can expect as they create and expand their crisis services.

Join us to hear their experiences as we discuss:

  • Developing partnerships with law enforcement agencies and the justice system
  • Expanding training beyond crisis responders to the entire community to remove the stigma of behavioral health issues
  • Creating crisis stabilization services to deter crises from happening
  • Regular communication with stakeholders to create strong relationships, improve processes and create memorandums of understanding for moving forward
